Plug-in Solar Comparison

The register is the only check that is not opinion

It is public, it is free, and it is the legal test. A device must be on it and confirmed compliant before anyone can sell it to you.

How to search it

Go to the Live Device Register on ENA Connect Direct. Open Filters, set Type to Plug-in Solar, and read the Compliance Status column. You can also search by manufacturer or model if you have a specific kit in mind.

Get the address right

The host is connect-direct.energynetworks.org, with a hyphen. The unhyphenated version does not resolve, which is why a number of links to the register are broken.

Two things about it are unusually helpful. Non-compliant devices stay listed and are marked as such, so it is a record of what failed assessment as well as what passed. And each record carries separate Great Britain and Northern Ireland standard versions, with separate compliance sections for each.

What a record contains

This is a real record, read on 13 September 2026. It is the only plug-in solar device we have verified ourselves so far.

The register describes a compliant device as one that "has been assessed by ENA's engineers and has been deemed acceptable for use by Distribution network operators".

What this list is not

It is not a recommendation and it is not a complete list of compliant kit. It is what we have personally opened and read. Other sites publish counts we have not verified. Use the register itself to check any kit you are considering.

Send us a listing and we will check it

Not sure whether a kit is on the register? Send us the model and we will look.

Paste the link or tell us the manufacturer and model. We will look it up on the register, read it against the specification, and tell you plainly what we find, including when we cannot verify something. We do not sell kit and we take no commission from anyone who does.

An emailed answer, and that is the end of it. No commission is paid to us and no seller is copied in.
